Government sends 250 teachers to USA for state-of-art training

Islamabad January 2: Over 250 teachers picked up from all over the country will attend certificate courses in different universities of the United States.

Education Minister, Zobaida Jalal told newsmen on Thursday that the first two groups of educators comprising 26 principals and administrators and as many master trainers would depart for the United States on January 12 and 15.

These persons would attend 4 month certificate training courses in subjects of Science, Mathematics and English at the University of Montana, George Mason University, University of Fairfax and the University of Virginia.

Zobaida said that participants of these courses have been selected from Islamabad, four provinces, Azad Kashmir and FATA on merit and no discrimination has been made in this connection.

She said that under this capacity building project,  the teachers educators would receive training these universities in teaching, pedagogy, planning, leadership, communication and computer skills.

They will also have an opportunity to see US schooling system and other teacher training facilities during the training period.

The Education Minister said that the step would be a milestone in the country's education sector where besides sending university lecturers and professors, college and school teachers would also be going abroad for  equipping them with modern know how of teaching.

Zobaida hoped that the existing cooperation between Pakistan and the United States would be strengthened further by many more initiatives like this.
