Gilgit, November 8. The Federal Government has allocated an amount of Rs. 304.504 million to the Northern Areas for schemes in the education sector. These schemes will be financed from the PSDP of 2003-04.
According to details, an allocation of Rs. 221.651 million has been made for completion of ongoing schemes. An amount of Rs. 82.853 million has been made for execution of new schemes in accordance with the priorities identified by the Northern Areas Administration.

In addition to the above development allocation, the Federal Government is also providing Rs. 464.135 million under its current budget for the salary and non-salary expenditure for education sector in the Northern Areas during the current financial year.
The total outlay for education in the current year is in excess of Rs. 768 million.
