MAIN ELEMENTS OF THE AJK EDUCATION CONFERENCE
(18th February 2006)
In the aftermath of the October 8th 2005 earthquake,
circumstances did not permit to arrange a conference
in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Education Department,
Government of AJK nominated a delegation of
35 education experts and education managers
to hold a discussion with the National Education
Policy Review Team at the Academy of Education
Planning and Management, Islamabad. The Secretary
Education, Mr. Naeem Ahmed Shiraz also participated
in the Conference.
After the inaugural session, four Working Groups
were formed which deliberated on following issues:
I. Challenges in Primary and Middle Education
II. Challenges in Secondary and Tertiary Education
III. Issues in Education Management
IV. Role of Area Governments in National Education
Policy
The findings and recommendations of the Working
Groups were presented at to the entire group
in the Concluding session of the Conference.
MAIN ELEMENTS
OF ISLAMABAD CAPITAL TERRITORY (ICT) EDUCATION
CONFERENCE
(12th July 2006)
The Policy and Planning Wing of Ministry of
Education in collaboration with the Federal
Directorate of Education organized the ICT Conference
on July 12, 2006 at the Academy for Education
Planning and Management, Islamabad. The Conference
brought together a unique mix of people from
government and civil society who were in a position
to reflect on specific educational issues in
the Islamabad Capital Territory.
Brig.(Retd.) Maqsood-ul-Hasan, Director General
Federal Directorate of Education underlined
that only if the people of Pakistan were given
a fair dispensation through a good, pragmatic,
solid education policy that reflected sincerity
of purpose, would the transformation of the
entire country begin.
Subsequent to the inaugural session, the Working
Groups held concurrent sessions to discuss the
following:
I. School-based Governance
II. Curriculum Process: Strengths and Weaknesses
III. Issues Related to Head Teachers: Inspection
and Supervision and Capacity Building
IV. Assessment of Students
The findings of the Working Groups were presented
to the entire group in the concluding session.
